No change to Garda service in Kinlough during refurbishment of station

Gardaí will remain in Kinlough while refurbishment works are being carried out to the local station in the north Leitrim Town.

Concern was expressed locally that the Garda presence in Leitrim’s fastest growing town would be reduced while the works were taking place.

At this week’s meeting of the joint policing committee in Leitrim, Superintendent Christopher Grogan confirmed that usual garda presence will remain in Kinlough.

Superintendent Grogan says it’s his understanding that Gardai  will be able to continue to work from the station in Kinlough while refurbishment work is ongoing.

Local Councillor Justin Warnock say’s it vital that the Gardra presence remained in the town.  He has also welcomed a commitment from Superintendent Grogan to explore the possibility of increasing the number of gardai that are currently assigned to the station.
