Gray supports legal action into reopening of hospitality sector

A former President of the Restaurants Association has backed its decision to take a legal challenge against the government plans for reopening indoor dining.

Owner of the Hooked and Eala Bhan Restaurant in Sligo, Anthony Gray is critical of the decision by government to allow hotels reopen on June 2nd for indoor dining but restricting restaurants, cafes and gastropubs until July 5th.

He says there is a limited window during the summer months for business meaning hotels will have an advantage in trading and hiring staff.

The RAI are planning legal action over the decision saying that only 20% of the sector can engage in outdoor dining and that the different opening times are ‘discriminatory.’

Speaking to OceanFM News, Anthony Gray says no restaurateur was consulted.
