Killybegs fishing group boss says fisheries became the ‘sacrifical lamb’ in Brexit talks



The boss of a Killybegs fishing group says Ireland’s fishing industry became the ‘sacrificial lamb’ in the Brexit negotiations.

Karl McHugh, CEO of the Atlantic Dawn Group, was reacting after more than 60 trawlers sailed from Roches Point to the Cork City docks today as part of a protest against the measures.

They have delivered a list of demands to the Taoiseach’s Cork office calling for 15 per cent quotas to be reversed.

Mr McHugh says the cuts to fishing quota will have far reaching consequences:
