Sligo festival to demonstrate how live events can work

A Sligo festival aims to demonstrate how live events can take place during the pandemic.

The Wild Roots Festival is due to take place near Lough Gill between the 13th and 15th August with festival organisers carrying out a demonstration today.

They aim to use mobile phone technology and a QR Code system for entry to the festival as well as having on site testing facilities.

Large trial events with thousands of people have taken place in the UK, using antigen testing to allow people to attend without masks or social distancing, most recently in Liverpool

Neil O’Connell and Orla Buckley are the Directors of the Wild Roots Festival.

Neil explains how the appointment based system works.

Orla Buckley says the fact they haven’t held a festival yet is actually an advantage.
