New Covid-19 vaccine centre open in Leitrim

A Covid-19 vaccination centre covering residents in Leitrim is now in operation.

It’s based in the Primary Care centre in Carrick on Shannon which will mean less travel for those who were asked to get their jab at the centre in the Knocknarea Arena in Sligo.

However, those in the north of the county may still be called to attend the centre in Sligo, depending on their location.

People aged 50 to 69 can now register their details to receive a vaccine through the government’s online portal.

Siobhán Mc Eniff, Saolta Operational Lead for Leitrim HSE Vaccination Centre says they expect the centre to be open for two or three days from next week, depending on the number registered and vaccine supply.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Minister of State at the Department of Health and Sligo/Leitrim TD, Frank Feighan, says hopefully the vast majority of the population will be vaccinated i the coming weeks.
