Taoiseach praises everyone for helping tackle high virus rates in Donegal



The response of people and businesses in Donegal in tacking the high number of Covid-19 cases has been praised in the Dáil today.

Donegal TD Joe McHugh outlined how the response,  aided by more testing and vaccination facilities, helped reduce the spread of the virus in the county.

The Fine Gael TD says in order for the numbers to continue to drop, GPs must to be given more responsibility in the vaccination rollout.

He also called for former doctors over the age of the 70 to be allowed to administer vaccinations

In response, the Taoiseach says he will consult with the HSE in relation to availing of the services of retired GPs in administrating vaccinations.

Michael Martin also acknowledged the intervention of the CMO and the local TDs.
