CMO says it’s stime to start planning for the summer

The Chief Medical Officer says it’s time for people to be hopeful and to start planning for the summer.

Dr Tony Holohan says he wants next week to be a ‘significant turning point’ in the pandemic, as restrictions ease.

26 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Donegal in the latest set of figures released by the Department of Health.

Once again there were no new cases in Sligo.  Less than 5 were confirmed in Leitrim.

393 cases were detected nationally while 8 additional deaths were also reported in last night’s figures.

Dr Gerald Barry, an assistant professor of virology in UCD, says people should be optimistic for the summer ahead.
