Death of Sligo woman Kathleen Reynolds, wife of former Taoiseach



The death has occurred of Kathleen Reynolds, wife of former Taoiseach Albert Reynolds.

Mrs Reynolds was 88 and had been ill for some time.

She died in the early hours of this morning at the family home in Dublin.

She was a native of Culfadda, near Ballymote, in County Sligo.

She met Albert Reynolds when they both worked in Ballymote, she in McGettrick’s Shop in the town and he as a clerk with the rail and bus company CIE.

The mother-of-seven travelled with Mr Reynolds on international duties while he was taoiseach between 1992 to 1994.

Mr Reynolds died in 2014, aged 81.

Former Ballymote Fianna Fail TD, senator and councillor, Eamon Scanlon, said the late Mrs Reynolds always remained proud of her Ballymote connections.
