Special meeting to be held over high Covid rate in Donegal

The Health Minister has called a special meeting with the Chief Medical Officer and HSE over concerns about the rate of Covid-19 in Donegal.

Stephen Donnelly says they’ll discuss what extra supports can be put in place in the county and that huge local efforts have already been made.

Donegal currently has the highest 14 day incidence of Covid across the country at 293 per 100 thousand.

Dr Tony Holohan raised concerns about it yesterday and said there were clear examples of people not following the rules.

Donegal Fine Gael TD, Joe McHugh, called for the meeting which is due to take place at 6pm today.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Deputy McHugh says there are a number of factors that have to be considered before any action is taken.
