Derry City hit by ‘Tubbercurry’ Tornado

Derry City have unveiled Raff Cretaro as part of the club’s new management team, following the appointment of Ruaidhrí Higgins to the top job at the Brandywell on Friday.

Higgins takes over from Declan Devine, who was sacked by the club just six games into the new season.

Higgins was part of Stephen Kenny’s senior international management team, working as chief scout and opposition analyst.

However, he now leaves that role to take up the post in the maiden city.

Former Sligo Rovers and Finn Harps player Cretaro, affectionately known as the ‘Tubbercurry Tornado’ during his playing career, is a UEFA ‘A’ licence holder and will assist Higgins in his bid to turn the club’s fortunes around this season.

Higgins and Cretaro were team-mates during their time at Bohemians.

Cretaro brought a glittering 18-year playing career to a close on New Year’s Day.

Derry are currently bottom of the Premier Division table with two points.

They play Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds this Saturday evening at 6pm – which will be broadcast live in full on Ocean FM.
