Charlie McConalogue urged to protect farmers EU payments

The Agriculture Minister, Donegal TD Charlie McConalogue is being urged to intervene to make sure up to 40,000 Irish farmers don’t lose out on EU payments.

A change to the Common Agricultural Policy in 2023 could result in farmers with peat soils losing payments.

Michael Fitzmaurice is one of several Independent TDs who’ll raise the issue in the Dáil today.

He says Minister Charlie McConalogue needs to take a stand with his EU colleagues.
