MacSharry repeats his lack of confidence in government’s handling of pandemic



A Government TD says he doesn’t have confidence in the Taoiseach and the Government’s handling of the pandemic.

Fianna Fail’s Marc MacSharry also says Leo Varadkar shouldn’t be flying kites on reopening society if he’s not going to follow through.

The Sligo-Leitrim TD isn’t happy with Micheál Martin’s handling of the crisis.

However, the Tanaiste says he’s hoping there are no setbacks when it comes to the further reopening of society.

The Government will unveil its plans for the Summer at the end of next week.

Leo Varadkar says personal services, non-essential retail, construction and religious services are expected to reopen on a phased basis in May.

But he’s hoping covid cases don’t rise between now and then

He also says he hopes apathy toward getting the vaccine will not become an issue.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Affairs Minister has said people shouldn’t book holidays abroad this summer.

Simon Coveney has said government will continue to prioritise public health over economic arguments when it comes to aviation.

However, the Minister said he believes staycations will be allowed and popular this year.
