Sinn Féin leader issues appology over Mountbatten death



The President of Sinn Féin, Mary Lou McDonald has issued an apology for the IRA’s murder of Lord Mountbatten in Sligo which occurred 42 years ago.

 

 

 

The Sinn Fein leader was speaking following the funeral of Prince Philip, Lord Mountbatten’s nephew on Saturday.  In an interview with Times Radio she said ‘she was sorry that Mountbatten was killed’.

 

 

 

Lord Mountbatten died along with three others when the fishing boat he was on was blew up by the IRA at Mullaghmore in August 1979
