Road improvements on R290 move to design stage

The proposed footpath and safety works from CastleDargan Resort to Ballygawley Village has moved to the design stage.

Residents have been campaigning since 2017 and signed a petition in December 2018 calling for safety and improvement works to be carried out.

The government’s recently announced the Active Travel Scheme with Co. Sligo being allocated a total of €2.6m.

Cathaoirleach of Sligo Drumcliffe Municipal District and Fine Gael Councillor, Thomas Walsh, has been actively highlighting the need for safety works along the R290.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Councillor Walsh says the works are a critical piece of infrastructure for the community.
