Post Offices & Credit Unions need inceased security

There are fears that post offices and credit unions in the north west may be at a higher security risk due to the increased volume of business they will be conducting following the closure of bank branches.

The concerns were aired at a recent meeting of Leitrim Joint Policing Committee by Councillor Sean McDermott.

The Fine Gael councillor says that with greater volumes of cash having to be stored in the regions Post Offices and Credit Unions to cater for increased demands, the level of security will have to be increased particularly to coincide with the delivery and withdrawal of cash.
