People encouraged to get involved with Sligo Community Archaeology Project

People across Sligo are being encouraged to get involved with the Sligo Community Archaeology Project.

There were some finds in the region in 2020 such as the discovery of megalithic art on Cloghcor Portal Tomb in Maugherow and a potential Bronze Age stone pendant found in Drumcliffe.

The project aims to help local communities discover and care for any archaeological finds as well as potentially develop local heritage trails or exhibitions.

The project will run until the end of October and is being funded by Sligo County Council in partnership with the Heritage Council.

Tamlyn McHugh of Fadó Archaeology is running the project.
