A Sligo councillor says preparations are ongoing for the development of a greenway in Sligo.
Independent Councillor Marie Casserly says work is being done on various reports, including environmental screening and scoping reports, all in parallel with design work for the Collooney to Bellaghy greenway.
She also says a list of adjacent landowner folios has been completed as has a Project Execution Plan.
Cllr Casserly says liaison with relevant adjacent landowners along the proposed greenway will restart as soon as Covid restrtictions allow.
She says all this is in preparation for a planning application to An Bord Pleanála for the greenway.
She envisages the Sligo greenway eventually linking with other greenways throughout the country.
Right now, she says work is being done in preparation for applications for planning and funding in order to make it all eventually happen.
