High risk of fire this Easter weekend

The warm, dry weather is increasing the risk of wildfires this Easter weekend.

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine have issued a Condition Orange Warning which is in place until the 6th of April.

Farmers and members of the public are being asked to be extra vigilant in order to prevent wildfires occurring in the region.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Chief Fire Officer with Sligo Fire Service, Marian Coakley says illegal burning can lead to serious damage to the environment and people’s homes.
