Discussions expected to take place on Enniscrone Plebiscite



The long running plebiscite issue in relation to Enniscrone will be discussed at senior government level next week.

 

A campaign spanning well over 15 years to allow locals determine the spelling of the County Town has resulted in the government considering amending legislation to allow a plebiscite to take place.

 

Sligo based TD and Minister for state at the Department of Health Frank Feighan says he understands that officials from for the Department of Tourism and Culture have been provided with legal advice on how to proceed with the matter.

 

Minister Feighan says he expects the Minster for Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media Catherine Martin to provide some clarity on how she intends to proceed next week:
