Climate Action Bill shows need for Western Rail Corridor, with greenway alongside

A Sligo councillor says the recently-published Climate Action Bill highlights even more the need for a Western Rail Corridor from Collooney to Claremorris, with links to Galway and Limerick.

The Climate Action Bill aims to halve carbon emissions by 2030.

Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy says a Western Rail Corridor would result in fewer vehicles on the road while at the same time providing much-needed transport services for people, including for a large number of students, as well as for freight.

Cllr Healy says there could also be a greenway running alongside the railway line.
