New GAA President Larry McCarthy recalls how Sligo man Jimmy Nicholson was instrumental in his move to the United States in the 1980s – and his deep involvement with Sligo GAA in the Big Apple prior to becoming the Association’s Uachtarán.
He was also part of the Thomond College team that played St Mary’s of Sligo in the 1978 All-Ireland club football semi-final.
