Health officials facing a challenge to lower Covid-19 cases



The deputy CMO says it will be a ‘challenge’ to get below 500 Covid cases per day.

 

Tanaiste Leo Varadkar said yesterday it will be very hard to see numbers going below this level because of the more transmissible UK variant.

 

The Department of Health has confirmed that a further 3 people have died form Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland.

 

There have also been 606 new cases of the virus detected.  Whereas less than 5 cases were confirmed in the Counties of Sligo and Leitrim there 57 new cases of Covid-19 in Donegal.

 

503,796 people have received their first dose

186,653 people have received their second dose
