Covid restrictions contributing to housing crisis

A Donegal Councillor has expressed his disappointment with the news that Covid-19 restrictions on the construction industry will lead to a 25% collapse in new housing construction this year.

Donegal Independent Councillor Tom Conaghan worked successfully in helping a number of building applications secure planning permission in the south Donegal area.

With construction at an already low level, there is a fear that house prices will rise across the county and force many first time buyers out of the market.

Cllr Tom Conaghan says that while the county engulfed in a housing crisis, the construction of family homes should be deemed essential.
