Cosgrove calls for action plan to tackle waiting lists

There has been a 13% increase in waiting lists for treatment at Sligo University Hospital since January last year.

Sligo Labour Party activist Nessa Cosgrove says the numbers waiting for both outpatient and inpatient treatments increased from more than 20,000 to almost 23,000 between January 2020 and February 2021.

The biggest increases were for people waiting for orthopaedics treatment and surgery.

Nessa Cosgrove says she accepts dealing with Covid takes precedence but insists an ‘action plan’ is needed to deal with the overall health situation.
