The continual downgrade of rural Ireland needs to tackled, immediately. That’s according to a Midlands North West MEP.
Sinn Fein MEP, Chris MacManus, referenced a recent CSO publication that showed a noticeable difference in disposable income between east and west.
The north west region has also been downgraded from a ‘Developed Region’ to a ‘Region in Transition’.
MEP MacManus says while this will mean more EU funding for the likes of Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal, he says the reason the region is receiving the funding need to be addressed
