Funding now available under the ‘Safe Routes to School Scheme’

Schools across the north west are encouraged to apply for funding under the ‘Safe Routes to School Scheme’

The new programme aims to encourage more students to cycle, walk or scoot to school and was developed in response to concerns around congestion outside schools.

€15m is available nationally with over 100 schools to be chosen.

Minister of State at the Department of health and Sligo/Leitrim TD, Frank Feighan, says the money will go towards developing infrastructure around schools to ensure it’s safe for children.
