No celebrations for century of partition

A Leitrim councillor is calling on all elected public representatives not to take part in any events marking the century of Ireland’s partition.

A recent motion calling on the Taoiseach, Tanaiste, Ministers and all TD’s not to partake in any events celebrating the centenary of the partition of Ireland was carried at this month’s meeting of Leitrim Council.

The motion was proposed by Sin Fein Councillor Padraig Fallon.

Cllr. Fallon say partition has failed both nationalists and unionists and that there is no reason why it should be celebrated in any shape or form.
