48-hour challenge raises thousands for heart charity

Two cousins, Karl & Conor McKeon, have completed what was known as the 4x4x48 Challenge to raise thousands of euros for the West of Ireland heart and stroke charity Croí.

The duo pledged to run four miles ever four hours for 48 hours.

Both men are from Gurteen in Sligo – but are based in the UK.

Conor’s father, Joe (known as ‘Scobie’),  passed away last year but while he being treated in Galway University Hospital, he received excellent support from Croí, which was deeply appreciated by the McKeon family.

Just three weeks ago, the lads decided to do the 48-hour challenge to raise funds for Croí.

It was a virtual event as Conor lives in London, and Karl is based in Manchester.

However, the challenge drew huge support at home too, as both men explained to Ocean FM Sport on Sunday evening, after completing their 4x4x48 challenge.
