Banking services from Post Offices is far from being signed, sealed and delivered



As the fallout continues from yesterday’s announcement by Bank of Ireland about its branch closures, including nine in the North West, a Leitrim councillor and post mistress says she knows nothing about an arrangement for post offices to provide banking services.

 

Cllr Mary Bohan has called for clarity to be provided to Post offices and the general public in relation to what services An Post will be providing under the new agreement with Bank of Ireland.

 

Yesterday it was announced that Bank of Ireland were shutting 88 branches including a number locally in Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim.

Although welcoming the news that extra business will be heading the way of Post offices, says it’s unlikely that the post offices will be providing a full banking service:
