Progress being reported in fight against Covid-19



The Department of Health has reported that there have been 56 additional deaths from Covid-19.

 

574 new cases were also reported.

 

No additional cases were reported in Leitrim, there were less than 5 in Sligo and 21 in Donegal.

 

652 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 137 are in ICU.

 

There are 7 people being treated for Covid-19 in Sligo University Hospital with 2 in the ICU units.

There are 12 Covid-19 patients in Letterkenny with 3 in the ICU unit.

 

The number of patients with Covid-19 in public hospitals has fallen below 600 for the first time since January 1st.

 

However according to latest HSE figures 10 people in ICU died after contracting the virus – the largest number in a 24-hour period since the start of the pandemic.

 

353,971 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ireland:

 

222,073 people have received their first dose.

131,898 people have received their second dose.
