Small rural schools should open completely next week

A Leitrim Councillor has criticised the gradual return to school policy that will be implemented from next week.

It’s expected to be confirmed today that junior and senior infants along with children in first and second classes will be allowed to return to school on Monday next.

The remaining National School children will not be returning until March 15th.

Sinn Fein Councillor Padraig Fallon says this ‘one size fits all ‘ approach should not apply to small rural schools where the enrolment of the school is small and Covid-19 numbers are relatively low in their area.
