Irish Defence Forces deliver vaccines to west coast islands



The Irish Defence Forces delivered the first shipments of Covid-19 vaccines to islands off the west coast on Friday.

Members of the the Irish Air Corps  delivered the supplies to Arranmore Island off the Donegal coast and also to the Aran Islands off the Galway coast.

Three shipments of the Moderna vaccine were flown on two EC-135 helicopters and were then handed over to GP’s on the islands.

A statement to OceanFM News reads; “this operation marks a significant milestone in the vaccine rollout and highlights Óglaigh na hÉireann’s continued support to the HSE in the fight against Covid-19.”
