Just over €2m has been allocated for the north west to bring 64 homes up to modern energy efficient standards.
The money comes from the national €35m Energy Efficiency Retrofitting Programme for Social Housing with the programme for government aiming to upgrade 500,000 homes by 2030.
Dr. Bláithín Gallagher, National Coordinator of the Green Party is welcoming the news as her party have pushed for the scheme over the years.
Speaking to OceanFM, she says there are many benefits to retrofitting.
