The Department of Health have confirmed that 43 more cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the Counties of Sligo Leitrim and Donegal.
29 new cases were reported in Donegal yesterday, there were 9 in Leitrim and 5 in Sligo.
901 new cases were reported nationally along with 47 additional deaths.
182,193 people have now received their first vaccination while 98,388 have received their second jab at this stage.
771 People across the Country are currently being treated in hospital for Covid-19 with 151 in ICU Units.
Locally there are 10 people being treated at Sligo University hospital with 1 in ICU.
There are 13 people being treated in Letterkenny University hospital with 4 in the ICU.
Level 5 restrictions could be in place until May with Ministers expecting almost no measures to ease next month.
The phased re-opening of schools is likely to be the only major easing of the current lockdown amid fears around the new COVID variants.
Public Health Officials were described as incredibly cautious last night by senior Ministers briefed on the re-opening of schools last night.
It’s likely to start on March 1st with Leaving Cert students, along with junior and senior infants, but a final date hasn’t been formally signed off.

Some classes will return at the start of March, and then others on a phased basis every two or three weeks out into April.

The one ray of positive news at the meeting was briefing from HSE boss Paul Reid and Vaccine Taskforce Chair Brian MacCraith that more than a million vaccinations a month could be happening from April.
