Warnock unhappy with north Leitrim representation on council staff

A Leitrim councillor says there’s a perception among people in the north of the county that there’s no point in applying for jobs with the county council because they are too far away from the local authority headquarters in Carrick-on-Shannon.

At this week’s meeting of councillors from the Manorhamilton Municipal District, Fianna Fail Councillor Justin Warnock asked if distance was a disadvantage for a person living north of the N15 road in seeking a job with the council.

Cllr Warnock says there’s ‘only a handful’ of council staff from an area in which there are about 5,000 residents.

He hopes the situation can be addressed when staff are employed for a new council office in Manorhamilton.
