Establishment of forestry group will do little to help

The establishment of the Irish Forest Owners group, a national producer organisation, which will support forest owners in the management of their forests will do little to resolve the many issues that are impacting many communities in the North West.

That’s according to a representative of the Save Leitrim Movement.

The IFA has advocated for many years the importance of establishing a national network of producer organisations for forest owners.

However Councillor Justin Warnock from the save Leitrim Movement – A group which are fighting for the survival of rural communities that are being impacted afforestation programmes says the establishment of this group comes too late for many small forestry farmers in the local region
