Digital Divide will leave children behind in education

A Sligo Councillor has expressed concerns that there is a major digital divide establishing itself right across the North West.

Councillor Sinead Magurie says there is a digital divide that is denying children equal access to education during the Covid-19 pandemic and that those living rurally are finding it difficult to work or study from areas where internet coverage is substandard.

The Fine Gael Councillor served as the Chairperson of the cross border group ICBan.

She is calling on the Government to bridge the digital divide and says that concerns over poor broadband in rural Ireland has been flagged over a long period of time.
