Staff from IT Sligo and St Angela’s College in Clogherevagh, Sligo, have agreed to enter formal negotiations with a view to merging.
It comes as IT Sligo prepares to become part of a planned technological university.
Sligo/Leitrim Fianna Fail Deputy Marc MacSharry says the merger of the two colleges would be a good move for all.
