Donegal GRA official says border Covid fines give gardai some clarity



Gardaí say new cross-border travel fines will help them enforce Covid-19 restrictions.

From today anyone who isn’t ‘ordinarily resident’ in the Republic can be fined 100 euro for non-essential travel.

Each adult in a car will be issued with a fine, not just the driver.

Donegal-based Vice-President of The Garda Representative Association, Brendan O’ Connor, says this will allow officers in border areas to apply more equal measures:
