However yesterday’s figures were the lowest number of cases since December 28th with 879 new infections.
15 additional cases were reported in Donegal yesterday, there were 8 in Sligo and less than 5 in Leitrim
Meanwhile Professor Gabriel Scally has claimed that many recent Covid deaths are directly due to restrictions being eased before Christmas.
The chief medical officer, Tony Holohan has warned that we have a long way to go to bring the virus under control.
