International Summer Holidays are unlikely in 2021



10 further Covid-19 related deaths were reported in the latest set of figures released by the Department of Health, with 1,062 additional cases.

 

Locally there were 27 new cases confirmed in Donegal, 6 additional cases were confirmed in Sligo and less than 5 in Leitrim.

 

Latest figures show there were 1,436 people in hospital with the disease, while 206 were receiving treatment in ICU.

 

The national 14-day incidence rate of Covid-19 has now fallen to 478 – which is the lowest it’s been since January 2nd.

 

Meanwhile the Chief Medical Officer says it’s ‘not realistic’ to expect a summer holiday this year.

 

Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary said yesterday that international travel will largely resume as normal in late June.
