Call for ‘One Stop Shop’ to help bereaved, next-of-kin

There are calls for a One Stop Shop to be set up to help bereaved family members and next of kin.

The proposal comes as many family members have to face the trauma of deaths from Covid at a time when traditional community supports cannot be given due to the various restrictions.

Meanwhile, many government and public offices are now operating with reduced staff, often with people working from home.

Sligo Labour Party member Nessa Cosgrove says when a loved one dies, their family and next-of-kin suddenly find they have to deal with a range of public services and department sections, all of which can cause unnecessary distress during what is a trying time.
