IT Sligo inviting applications for new Sports Scholars

IT Sligo is now inviting applications for its Sports Scholarship programme for the 2021/2022 academic year.

The Institute offers up to 60 Scholarships each year with the Gold award worth €1,750 to the successful applicant.

The scheme is designed to help talented student athletes reach their sporting potential.

IT Sligo’s Schools Liaison Officer Micheál Dowdican gives a quick guide to how Sports Scholarship programme works:

Current Sports Scholarship recipients at IT Sligo include Donegal gaelic footballer Andrew McClean, Sligo footballer Sean Carrabine, athletics sprinter Lauren Cadden and Sligo Rovers footballers Niall Morahan and Scott Lynch.

Sligo sprinter Lauren Cadden is an IT Sligo Sports Scholarship student.  She spoke to Ocean FM Sport’s Austin O’Callaghan about how the programme has helped her running and her studies – and she gives insight into what life is like as an online student during a pandemic.

Applications for the IT Sligo Sports Scholarship programme are open until September 15th, 2021.
