Decrease of incidence rate across north west for second week



For the second consecutive, week, there’s been a noticeable decrease in the 14-day incidence rare across all local electoral areas in the north west region.

The latest daily figures from the National Public Health Emergency Team shows 63 new cases were recorded in Co. Donegal, 15 in Sligo and less than 5 in Leitrim.

During the past 14 days, the Sligo/Strandhill area has had 118 new Covid-19 cases with a rate per 100,000 population of 558.5, that compares to 189 cases and a rate of 894.5 this time last week.

Sligo/Drumcliffe had 50 cases in the last 14 days with a rate of 282.9 there were 127 cases and the rate was 718.5 a week ago.

The figures for Ballymote/Tubbercurry was 98 new cases and an incidence rate of 366.6 compared to 178 cases and a rate of 665.9.

In the Manorhamilton area of Leitrim, there have been 32 cases in the past 14 days and a rate of 295.7; last Friday there were 57 cases and the rate was 526.8.

The South Donegal electoral area has gone from 189 cases in the past fortnight and a rate of 713.4; there were 322 cases and the rate was 1,215.

There were 29,614 new cases recorded across the country in the last 14 days with a national incidence rate of 621.9; down from 54,318 cases and a rate of 1,140.7 last week.

And according to the latest information from the HSE, as of 6.30pm last night, there were no critical care beds available in Letterkenny University Hospital while 2 were available in Sligo University Hospital.
