IBAL Survey: ‘Another fine showing’ from Sligo, says Filan

Sligo is now 11th among 37 towns and cities throughout Ireland when it comes to the fight against litter.

It’s as fewer than half of towns and cities in the rankings are now regarded as ‘clean.’

That’s according to the results, released today, of the last Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) survey for 2020, Sligo was ranked ‘clean to European norms’.

Castlebar was 12th and Letterkenny was 15th.

Reacting to Sligo’s performance, tidy towns committee chairman Finbarr Filan said it’s not just Sligo town that is considered . . . . the judges take in an entire area including approach roads as well as taking in housing estates.

Mr Filan also thanked all those who help with the tidy towns effort.
