McConalogue announces additional ports for Donegal



Four extra fishing Ports have been designated in Donegal for international vessels to operate from, the ports will be operational from the beginning of February and will enable Fishermen with UK registered vessels to land their catch in Killybegs, Greencastle, Burtonport and Rathmullan.

 

As a result of the initial Brexit deal, Killybegs has been the only designated port in Donegal for UK registered boats.

 

The Minister for the Agriculture, Food and the Marine Charlie Monologue confirmed the news this morning.

 

The Donegal TD says these moves should help to ease some of the difficulties that fishermen are facing:

 

 

30 TO 40 Vessels are thought to be impacted and Minister McConalogue says that although there will be more red tape associated with fishing activities the provision of extra ports will provide them with greater options in relation to ports in which they can use:
