Tributes paid to former Sligo County Registrar, Kieran McDermott

Mr McDermott served as the Returning Officer for the Sligo-Leitrim General Election Counts during the 1980’s and 1990’s.

He was also Sligo GAA County Board Chairman from 1991 to 1993.

He was instrumental in the redevelopment of Markievicz Park and in the abolition of the GAA’s Rule 42, which prohibited other sports from being played at GAA venues such as Croke Park
