Questions about Garda presence in Leitrim/Fermanagh border areas

There are concerns in some border areas between Leitrim and Fermanagh about an increased garda and police presence in the aftermath of Brexit.

Leitrim Sinn Fein Councillor Padraig Fallon says while it’s good to see the gardai out and about, it’s also important that the movement of people and flow of traffic along the border isn’t hampered.

At this coming Monday’s meeting of councillors from the Manorhamilton Municipal District of Leitrim County Council, Cllr Fallon will propose that the Garda commissioner be asked about whatever plans and policies are in place in relation to Garda visibility and checkpoints in the area.

Cllr Fallon has been telling Ocean FM News about the background to his proposal.
