Ungritted minor roads treacherous throughout region



Two Status Yellow weather warnings are in force for the entire country this morning.

One is a snow/ice warning. The other is a low temperature/ice warning.

Met Eireann says snow and ice will lead to treacherous conditions, with some accumulations possible.

This warning is valid until 11 o’clock this (Thursday) morning.

Under its low temperature/ice warning, which ends at 10 o’clock this morning, Met Eireann say it will be very cold with minimum temperatures widely falling to -3 or -4 degrees Celsius.

Gritter trucks have been out throughout the north west but untreated minor roads, particularly in rural areas, may be treacherous this morning and motorists are advised to drive slowly and carefully, leaving extra times for journeys.

Many footpaths and car park areas are also very slippery this morning.
