Donegal restricting access to beaches

Donegal County Council is restricting vehicular access to a number of beach car parks and beaches throughout the county.

It follows a move yesterday by Sligo County Council and Sligo gardai to restrict access to amenity areas, including beaches in County Sligo.

This move by Donegal County Council is part of ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with public health guidelines, specifically people staying within 5km of their homes for exercise.

An Garda Siochana is working with the council in implementing the beach restrictions in County Donegal.

The council points out that the beaches will remain available to those living within a 5km distance of them.

The beaches with the restricted access include Kinnagoe;  Lisfannon;  Shrove; Rathmullan; Portsalon; Murder Hole; Tra Mor (Na Dunaibh); Tra Beg
(Na Dunaibh), Ards (Creeslough); Block Yard Beach (Keadue); Narin; Dooey; Magheroarty; Magheraclogher;  Marble Hill; Killahoey; Mullaghdearg;  Silver Strand; Fintra;
Murvagh; Rossnowlagh; Tullan Strand (Bundoran) and Bundoran.

Donegal County Council is asking the public to respect the restrictions, to not travel outside five kilometres, and to remain at home except for travel for work, education or other essential purposes.
